Relocating to Seattle? Here’s What You Need to Know

Gear Up!

On average, Seattle specifically gets over 34 inches of rainfall a year. So, yes, the rumors are true! You’ll definitely need a rain jacket and rain boots to get you through a good chunk of the year. Don’t bother with an umbrella, Seattleites are used to getting wet so we opt-out.

Become an Infatuated Foodie

Seattle has an eclectic array of food options. Below you’ll find a few eatery options that locals claim are a “must-try.

  • A Seattle Dog – most often found outside the night scene on Capitol Hill, a micro-neighborhood in Seattle, this cream cheese-loaded hotdog (hear us out, it’s good!) is the talk of the town.
  • Comforting Bowl of Pho – the Vietnamese culture in Seattle is astounding, and you’ll find plenty of local spots that offer this delicious meal and more.
  • Craft Beer & Breweries – Seattle is also noted for its impeccable options for craft beer! There are plenty of local breweries to support in our area.
  • Dick’s Drive-In Burgers – If this isn’t a Seattle staple, I don’t know what is. Dubbed as America’s Most “Life-Changing Burger,” there’s no better way to enjoy a night out than with a satisfying Dick’s burger at one of their many locations in Seattle.
  • Coffee Culture - Most notoriously, Seattle is known as the “Coffee Capital” of the country for our coffee culture and roasting. You’ll also find the very first Starbucks storefront here!

Be Ready for Bike-Friendly Traffic

Seattle is also known for being incredibly bike-friendly, with many of our roads and streets having separate bike lanes. Many people even commute via bike, so be prepared to see these just about everywhere!

Floating Homes

One of the unique architectural aspects about Seattle is its abundance of floating homes. If you’ve ever seen “Sleepless in Seattle” then you know all about houseboats! You’ll mainly see these quintessential homes around Lake Union (another spot you’ll encounter often).

The Housing Market

Our metro-area is one real estate pocket that continues to thrive year-in, year-out. Home appreciation has sky-rocketed in the last 10 years and Seattle has been ranked in the top 10 best places to live in the U.S., so it comes as no surprise why people are flocking here! Our market tends to get pretty competitive, but with the right agent in your corner, you’ll have no problem finding the home you love and dream of.

Are you sold yet? Well, maybe the sign isn’t up yet, but we’ll get there. I’m thrilled to not only show you the best of the Puget Sound, but also how to make that home your very own.
